Baruch Dayan HaEmet

Baruch Dayan HaEmet - Blessed is the True Judge.

This is the blessing said upon hearing the news of someone's death.

About 11:10 AM this morning (Friday), RivkA passed away.

Funeral plans are in the process, and we'll post them as soon as we know.

May RivkA's family be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

Please daven (or send happy thoughts) for the memory of RivkA bat Yishaya HaLevi.

With love and optimism,RivkA's family

To everyone else: Baruch Dayan HaEmet. May all the family be comforted by their amazing memories of this wonderful lady, and be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

Last night as I said my tehillim for her I felt that I was giving her a final, really big hug.

We will all miss her.

Such an ebullient spirit. I am glad I met her three years ago at that first Int'l Jewish Bloggers Conference and am truly aware that I was acquainted with a courageous, happy and determined soul, one that will stay despite the physical loss.

Baruch Daya HaEmet. Crying here too. I didn't know RivkA except through her blog, but I learned so much from her nonetheless. My heart goes out to her family. Hashem should give them the strength they need to continue on without their beloved RivkA.

Baruch dayan emet. I am so upset to hear this awful news. I didn't know RivkA, but as the daughter of someone who died of cancer, I found her blog tremendously powerful and touching.
Wishing the family a long life.

If you ever wished to see an example of a Woman of Valor, Rivkah was the embodiment of that weekly prayer. She not only fought cancer, she kept hope alive in others who were fighting it and was a teacher to all of us. Her faith and strength were stupendous. Gan Eden's gain is our loss. May her family be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

Baruch Dayan HaEmet. I am sure that when Jameel posted this weeks parsha, Chayei Sarah, this morning he and many of us thought of the many lives of RivkA. It is difficult to believe that someone so enthusiastic, opinionated, caring, stubborn, and full of laughter is no longer with us. If she were able, my guess is that she would tell us to have a Shabbat Shalom. ("How? That's your problem!"). . . and tell those of us who have not, that we should move to Israel. HaMakom yenachem etchem b'toch sh'ar aveylei v'yerushalayim.

I had a few extra minutes getting ready for work (work is why I have not been blogging lately) when I was shocked and saddened to find a notice of RivkA's passing in my inbox.
I only knew her through her blog, and she came across as a courageous, righteous soul. I am sitting here fighting back tears. There is one thing I can say: that during her lifetime, RivkA lit up the world with her goodness. We will sorely miss her...
