"I Feel Like I’m in a Different State…"

"I feel like I’m in a different state…" – these were the words RivkA repeated to us a few times, as she tried to put her thoughts in order for a blog post.

When I visited RivkA on Sunday evening, she was already very tired.

After some very difficult days during which she barely managed to communicate, Sunday was not just a “good day,” but an “excellent and amazing day,” as she spent quality time – quality communicative time, with her children, husband, parents and siblings.

By the evening when we visited, Rivka was exhausted. But she smiled at our jokes, laughed a bit, gave us a “thumbs up” for something she agreed with, and even laughed at a computer joke.

On Monday morning, RivkA’s brother sent me an audio note, where I heard RivkA request that friends come to visit her…and she was blessed with many friends who came to entertain her. She happily sang along as a friend played their guitar, and acknowledged the presence of the so many people who came to visit her.

On Tuesday, RivkA slept most of the day. When she was awake she was still rather drowsy. The vast majority of the many people who came to visit her weren’t able to talk to her, and instead spent time talking to RivkA’s family.

People are still welcome to come and visit, even though RivkA may be sleeping.

On behalf of RivkA and her family, please continue to visit, pray and send positive thoughts for RivkA bat Teirtzel.

RivkA’s friend,

Jameel

PS: I'm sorry that there hasn't been more updates on the blog. Having discussed the issue with RivkA's husband, I will now be posting more regular updates.

Update: If you come for a visit, please plan on keeping actual visit time with RivkA, short. All the food that's been brought to the hospital is greatly appreciated, yet please refrain from bringing BAKED GOODS.

Please daven (or send happy, healing thoughts) for RivkA bat Teirtzel.
With love and optimism, RivkA

Thank you very much for the update on RivkA.
She is continually in my prayers as I send good positive thoughts to her.

She is a woman of such vitality that has touched others beyond borders

We spoke about Opera How we both enjoyed La Traviata with Carmen not far behind. How this year was the first time she had gone to the Opera in the Park.. Having teenagers close in age it doesn't matter where you live seems their problems are on similiar territories..lol

Please give her my love and wishes. And yes I would love to host RivkA and her family to come Niagara Falls. Nothing is impossible!!

With love & gratitude Alicia (Alli) from Canada....

Thank you Jameel. I've been checking this blog multiple times a day and will continue to do so. Continuing to say my chapter of Tehillim on her behalf.

I went to visit RivkA yesterday. And yes, she was asleep while i was there. She even slept through me playing the violin for her and her family. But even though she did not talk, I could still speak to her, tell her things i wanted to let her konw, both with words and also with music. Yes of course, I spent a lot of special time talking with her family, espacially with her dad. And still, please, anyone of you visiting her, talk to RivkA, even when she seems to be asleep! We can always speak to her!

Jameel, I just watched 3 of the 4 videos of RivkA and am truly amazed. She is so special. While I do not know her or her family personally, my heart goes out to them in their time of great understand, kindness, compassion, and need. Thank you Jameel for posting.

Thank you so much for the post updates. I, too, check often and pray even more. My heart aches for RivkA and her whole family. But, as RivkA likes to request, I am trying not to have "droopy eyes."

This week the walls of the Old City are lit up in pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. I took photos of the wall last night with you in mind, RivkA. You are such an inspiration. It will be the perfect subject for a quilt. Another way to reach people.
We all thought about you while at Barnard book club last night. We wished you could have been sharing your insights with us.
I think about you all the time and pray for your well being. I send you positive thoughts and love. Cindy
