I know a lot of people from around the world will be checking this to find out a little bit about how the funeral went. It's late at night here in Israel and I'm sure most people are too tired to write much, but I just wanted to assure everyone that HUNDREDS of people came. We overflowed out of the funeral parlor and way out onto the plaza outside; the eulogies were put over a loudspeaker so we could all hear. Several rabbis who knew RivkA spoke, as well as a couple of her friends, her brother-in-law, her father, and her husband. There were a lot of tears and a lot of expressions of support and love for the family.
It seemed almost everyone stayed to escort RivkA's body to its final resting place (according to Jewish custom), in a nook at the Har Menuchot cemetery. As anyone could expect the family was devastated, but they have many good friends who will be there for them to help them get through the next few days and weeks.
The sound of hundreds of people being silent was deafening.
May her memory be blessed.
Thank you Sarah for posting so late at night.
