Two Kinds of People

Back in the days when I was single, I used to think there were two kinds of people:

1. People who were complicated (like me), who had complicated lives and complicated personalities (and who had a hard time finding the right match)

and

2. People who were simple, whose lives (and personalities) were easy (and who could easily be matched up and married)

Over time, I learned that I had the right idea, but the wrong formula.

There are two types of people:

1. People whose lives are complex

and

2. People who you do not know so well

Need I say more?

Please daven (or send happy, healing thoughts) for RivkA bat Teirtzel.

With love and optimism,
RivkA

How do you know you've hit middle age? When the "now" you says things that would sound wise to the "then" you. Welcome to the club. :-)

Another slant on this is:

There are two kinds of people: those who divide people into two kinds, and those who don't!

Tzvi: And then there are people who like me, who wouldn't know what to do with just two categories. It would be a boring world indeed if I could only find two kinds of people. ;-)

Yes!!

Two groups:
1. Complex [to the observer]
2. Simple [to the observer]

And there are another two groups:
1. People who have an easy time finding a match.
2. People who have a hard time finding a match.

And the two groups are quite uncorrelated. For example, I had a great-aunt that was very complex (not just me being an observer, really, truly complex) and was married 5 times, actually one of those times, she just lived with the guy for 15-20 years, we found out why later (after he died) - because he was a non-Jew. She found a match 5 times!

Okay, RivkA we think way too much alike!! I used to have those exact thoughts. However, I always felt that being of the complicated (and harder to match up) group made my life much richer. Now I'm not so sure...

Everyone has their problems, complications, even if they're on sabbatical and life seems easy. One never knows.

ABH, Val, Melissa, Ilana Davita, Mottel, tesyaa, Toby, Muse -- Thanks

Ruti Mizrachi -- Oh my! Did middle age creep up on me already?! I still think of myself as "young"!

Tzvi Edelman -- there are three kinds of people in the world: those who know how to count and those who don't! ;-)

Mark -- 5 marriages is quite impressive. Your distinction between the two groups only counts if all those marriages were successful (i.e. no divorce)

Noa -- don't start doubting yourself now!!
