I wanted so much to send out invitations (via email) a month in advance.
It did not happen.
The radiosurgery just messed me up.
I finally got all the details (date/place/time) worked out and the invitation is ready, but I still have to put together the list of emails, which just takes time....
The Bat Mitzvah is 18 days away and I still have not sent out a single invitation!
My daughter will, BE"H, be reading Parshat Balak and sharing her drasha at Shirat Sarah, my women's tefillah group, which meets at Pardes.
Davening will start at 9:15, Torah reading at 9:45 (approx.), followed by her drasha. Kiddush will be around 11:20.
מי שבא ברוך הבא
(Israeli expression: Whoever comes is welcome!)
Please daven (or send happy, healing thoughts) for RivkA bat Teirtzel.
With love and optimism,
RivkA

Oh man, I have so been where you are at this moment, the event bearing down upon me and no invitations sent, planning yet to do... And I didn't have cancer! It will happen for you, and it will be a beautiful Bat Mitzah, BE"H! Blessings on you and your daughter.
Just take a deep breath, mark an hour off on your calender tomorrow and just do it, send them out and they will be off your mind....I know you can do this RivkA and all will be wonderful. Keeping you in my heart and prayers....:-) Hugs
Mazal tov! G-d willing you'll enjoy many smachot!
The Bat Mitzvah will be beautiful. Thinking of you all the time and sending good thoughts your way, dear RivkA. Love you!
Would you like friends/people coming to the service to bring the kiddush (Yedidya style, where everyone is assigned something and it's a feast)? If so, that would be one less thing to worry about. Just say the word!
If there's something you need help with that I can do, send email or call. M
mazal tov - my daughter is also celebrating her bat mitzvah that weekend! We are making a seudas mitzvah on the previous Sunday evening and we haven't even decided what to make, let alone made anything yet. I'm sure your simcha will be lovely - do your husband and son participate in some way?
1. Yes, we would love for friends to bring things!
Please email or call me if you want to help!!
2. Men and boys are invited to hear (from behind a mehitzah) our daughter read Torah and give her d'var Torah, but not for any othe part of the service.
Of course, everyone is welcome to join us for kiddush!!
I would be honored if I could be a part of your simcha.
Mazal Tov!! It will all come together, you know. And that was a great invitation.
Linda, Batya, Andrea - amen! thanks!
Bernie - your support and suggestions are so great! I did it! It took more than an hour, but most of the invitations went out. Now it's just a matter of finding those few missing emails and calling the folks who still do not have email (imagine that! it is hard to believe there are still people out there who function without email!)
Batya -- amen
Michele & MMS -- I look forward to seeing you there! (Michele, email me and I will put you in touch with my friend who is helping me with this...)
Mrs. Belogski -- MAZAL TOV!! In my comment below, I note that men and boys are invited to hear (from behind a mehitzah) our daughter read Torah and give her d'var Torah. Then we kick them out while we daven musaf (b'yehidut).
Everyone, even those with a Y chromosome, is welcome for Kiddush!
Mikimi -- cool. is this a theoretical honor or will you be in the neighborhood that Shabbat? I'd love to see you there!
Baila -- I sure hope so!!
Want to come in for Shabbat with your daughters?
RivkA I would make it a point to be in the area but need to know the details of where and when (date) etc.
what could I give Bat Mitzva girl as a gift?
Do you need me to help with phone calls?
email me.
Mikimi -- thanks!
